AIMS: It is not clear whether there are differences in glycemic control between the Equil patch and the MMT-712 insulin pump. Our objective was to compare two types of insulin pumps in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), using continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) metrics and profiles. METHODS: This was a randomized case-crossover clinical trial. Participants were hospitalized and randomly allocated to two groups and underwent two types of insulin pump treatments (group A: Equil patch-Medtronic MMT-712 insulin pump; group B: Medtronic MMT-712-Equil patch insulin pump) separated by a 1-day washout period. Glycemic control was achieved after 7-8 days of insulin pump therapy. Each patient received CGM for 5 consecutive days (from day 1 to day 5). On day 3 of CGM performance, the Equil patch insulin pump treatment was switched to Medtronic MMT-712 insulin pump treatment at the same basal and bolus insulin doses or vice versa. CGM metrics and profiles including glycemic variability (GV), time in range (TIR, 3.9-10.0 mmol/L), time below range (TBR, <3.9 mmol/L), time above range (TAR, >10.0 mmol/L), and postprandial glucose excursions, as well as incidence of hypoglycemia. RESULTS: Forty-six T2DM patients completed the study. There was no significant difference in parameters of daily GV and postprandial glucose excursions between the Equil patch insulin pump treatment and the Medtronic insulin pump treatment. Similarly, there was no between-treatment difference in TIR, TBR, and TAR, as well as the incidence of hypoglycemia. CONCLUSION: The Equil patch insulin pump was similar to the traditional MMT-712 insulin pump in terms of glycemic control. Equil patch insulin pump is a reliable tool for glycemic management of diabetes mellitus.

RESUMO

A sequential dearomatization/rearrangement reaction between quinazoline-derived azomethine imines and crotonate sulfonium salts has been developed to provide a series of three-dimensional cage-like molecules. The reaction involves two dearomatizations, two cyclizations, and two C-C bond and three C-N bond formations in one step. The new transformation has a broad substrate scope, does not require any added reagents, and proceeds under room temperature in a short time. A mechanistic rationale for the sequential dearomatization/rearrangement is also presented. Furthermore, the synthetic compounds are evaluated for their glucose control effect. Compounds 3aa and 3aj were found to be hyperglycemic, which might be lead compounds for treating hypoglycemia.

BACKGROUND: Ibrutinib and zanubrutinib are Bruton tyrosine kinase inhibitors used to treat mantle cell lymphoma, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, and small lymphocytic lymphoma. Dihydroxydiol ibrutinib (DHI) is an active metabolite of the drug. A liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry method was developed to detect ibrutinib, DHI, and zanubrutinib in human plasma. METHODS: The method involved a protein precipitation step, followed by chromatographic separation using a gradient of 10 mM ammonium acetate (containing 0.1% formic acid)-acetonitrile. Ibrutinib-d5 was used as an internal standard. Analytes were separated within 6.5 minutes. The optimized multiple reaction monitoring transitions of m/z 441.1 → 304.2, 475.2 → 304.2, 472.2 → 455.2, and 446.2 → 309.2 were selected to inspect ibrutinib, DHI, zanubrutinib, and the internal standards in positive ion mode. RESULTS: The validated curve ranges included 0.200-800, 0.500-500, and 1.00-1000 ng/mL for ibrutinib, DHI, and zanubrutinib, respectively. The precisions of the lower limit of quantification of samples were below 15.5%, the precisions of the other level samples were below 11.4%, and the accuracies were between -8.6% and 8.4%. The matrix effect and extraction recovery of all compounds ranged between 97.6%-109.0% and 93.9%-105.2%, respectively. The selectivity, accuracy, precision, matrix effect, and extraction recovery results were acceptable according to international method validation guidelines. CONCLUSIONS: A simple and rapid method was developed and validated in this study. This method was used to analyze plasma concentrations of ibrutinib and zanubrutinib in patients with mantle cell lymphoma, chronic lymphocytic leukemia/small lymphocytic lymphoma, or diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. The selected patients were aged between 44 and 74 years.

Sulfadiazine (SFZ) is an inexpensive large-consumption antibiotic used for treat bacterial infections but an excess of residues in food can be harmful. Fast and specific luminescence detection of SFZ is highly challenging because of the interference of structurally similar antibiotics. In this work, we develop a two-dimensional europium-organic coordination polymer with excellent luminescence and water stability for highly specific detection of SFZ in the range of 0-0.2 mM. Structural analysis shows that the high stability of coordination polymer is due to the high coordination number of europium ion and the special chelating coordination structure of ligand. The experiment results revealed that the high selectivity and effectively luminescence quenched behaviour of coordination polymer toward SFZ is caused by highly efficient inner filter effect.

Meningiomas are the most common tumours that primarily arise in the central nervous system, but their intratumoural heterogeneity has not yet been thoroughly studied. We aimed to investigate the transcriptome characteristics and biological properties of ECM-remodeling meningioma cells. Single-cell RNA sequencing (ScRNA-seq) data from meningioma samples were acquired and used for analyses. We conducted comprehensive bioinformatics analyses, including screening for differentially expressed genes (DEGs), Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) signaling pathway and Gene Ontology (GO) term enrichment analyses, Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA), protein-protein interaction (PPI) analysis, and copy number variation (CNV) analysis on single-cell sequencing data from meningiomas. Eighteen cell types, including six meningioma subtypes, were identified in the data. ECM-remodeling meningioma cells (MGCs) were mainly distributed in brain-tumour interface tissues. KEGG and GO enrichment analyses revealed that 908 DEGs were mainly related to cell adhesion, extracellular matrix organization, and ECM-receptor interaction. GSEA analysis demonstrated that homophilic cell adhesion via plasma membrane adhesion molecules was significantly enriched (NES = 2.375, P < 0.001). CNV analysis suggested that ECM-remodeling MGCs showed considerably lower average CNV scores. ECM-remodeling MGCs predominantly localized at the brain-tumour interface area and adhere stably to the basement membrane with a lower degree of malignancy. This study provides novel insights into the malignancy of meningiomas.

Polyploidy (genome duplication) is a pivotal force in evolution. However, the interactions between parental genomes in a polyploid nucleus, frequently involving subgenome dominance, are poorly understood. Here we showcase analyses of a bamboo system (Poaceae: Bambusoideae) comprising a series of lineages from diploid (herbaceous) to tetraploid and hexaploid (woody), with 11 chromosome-level de novo genome assemblies and 476 transcriptome samples. We find that woody bamboo subgenomes exhibit stunning karyotype stability, with parallel subgenome dominance in the two tetraploid clades and a gradual shift of dominance in the hexaploid clade. Allopolyploidization and subgenome dominance have shaped the evolution of tree-like lignified culms, rapid growth and synchronous flowering characteristic of woody bamboos as large grasses. Our work provides insights into genome dominance in a remarkable polyploid system, including its dependence on genomic context and its ability to switch which subgenomes are dominant over evolutionary time.

Pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PAAD) is a highly malignant tumor with poor prognosis. However, the relationship between cuproptosis-related genes (CRGs) and its competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) network with the prognosis of PAAD patients remains unclear. To investigate this relationship, we calculated the difference in CRGs between PAAD tissues and normal tissues using the 'limma' R package. Additionally, we employed least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) Cox regression analysis to construct a prognostic signature for CRGs. Survival analysis of patients with PAAD was performed using Kaplan-Meier analysis. Furthermore, we used bioinformatics tools to screen for CRGs-related MicroRNA (miRNA) and lncRNAs. To validate these findings, we conducted real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR), CCK-8, colony formation, and Transwell assays to assess the effect of DLAT in vitro. Our results revealed a cuproptosis-related prognostic signature consisting of 3 prognostic genes (DLAT, LIAS, and LIPT1). Notably, patients with a high-risk score for the CRGs signature exhibited poor prognosis in terms of overall survival (OS) (P < .05). The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was used to evaluate the prognostic signature of CRGs. The results showed that the 1-year, 3-year, and 5-year area under the curve values for predicting OS were 0.62, 0.66, and 0.79, respectively. Additionally, the CRGs-related ceRNA network revealed the regulatory axis of LINC00857/has-miR-1179/DLAT in PAAD. In vitro experiments demonstrated that knockdown of LINC00857 and DLAT inhibited the growth and invasion of PAAD cells. This study identified a CRG-related prognostic signature consisting of 3 biomarkers (DLAT, LIAS, and LIPT1) for PAAD. Furthermore, ceRNA network analysis suggested the involvement of the LINC00857/has-miR-1179/DLAT axis in the development of PAAD. Overall, this study provides theoretical support for the investigation of diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers as well as potential therapeutic targets in PAAD.

Cinnamic ester is a common and abundant chemical substance, which can be extracted from natural plants. Compared with traditional esters, cinnamic ester contains α,ß-unsaturated carbonyl structure with multiple reactive sites, resulting in more abundant reactivities and chemical structures. Here, a versatile polymerization-induced emission (PIE) is successfully demonstrated through Barbier polymerization of cinnamic ester. Attributed to its abundant reactivities of α,ß-unsaturated carbonyl structure, Barbier polymerization of cinnamic esters with different organodihalides gives polyalcohol and polyketone via 1,2-addition and 1,4-addition, respectively, which is also confirmed by small molecular model reactions. Meanwhile, these organodihalides dependant polyalcohol and polyketone exhibit different non-traditional intrinsic luminescence (NTIL) from aggregation-induced emission (AIE) type to aggregation-caused quenching (ACQ) type, where novel PIE luminogens (PIEgens) are revealed. Further potential applications in explosive detection are carried out, where it achieves TNT detection sensitivity at ppm level in solution and ng level on the test paper. This work therefore expands the structure and functionality libraries of monomer, polymer and NTIL, which might cause inspirations to different fields including polymer chemistry, NTIL, AIE and PIE.

Background: Xuebifang (XBF), a potent Chinese herbal formula, has been employed in managing diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN). Nevertheless, the precise mechanism of its action remains enigmatic. Purpose: The primary objective of this investigation is to employ a bioinformatics-driven approach combined with network pharmacology to comprehensively explore the therapeutic mechanism of XBF in the context of DPN. Study design and Methods: The active chemicals and their respective targets of XBF were sourced from the TCMSP and BATMAN databases. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) related to DPN were obtained from the GEO database. The targets associated with DPN were compiled from the OMIM, GeneCards, and DrugBank databases. The analysis of GO, KEGG pathway enrichment, as well as immuno-infiltration analysis, was conducted using the R language. The investigation focused on the distribution of therapeutic targets of XBF within human organs or cells. Subsequently, molecular docking was employed to evaluate the interactions between potential targets and active compounds of XBF concerning the treatment of DPN. Results: The study successfully identified a total of 122 active compounds and 272 targets associated with XBF. 5 core targets of XBF for DPN were discovered by building PPI network. According to GO and KEGG pathway enrichment analysis, the mechanisms of XBF for DPN could be related to inflammation, immune regulation, and pivotal signalling pathways such as the TNF, TLR, CLR, and NOD-like receptor signalling pathways. These findings were further supported by immune infiltration analysis and localization of immune organs and cells. Moreover, the molecular docking simulations demonstrated a strong binding affinity between the active chemicals and the carefully selected targets. Conclusion: In summary, this study proposes a novel treatment model for XBF in DPN, and it also offers a new perspective for exploring the principles of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in the clinical management of DPN.

BACKGROUND: Metastasis is one of the leading cause contributes to treatment failure and poor prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients. The underlying mechanism of HCC metastasis remains to be determined. Although several RNA binding proteins (RBPs) have been found to participate in tumorigenesis and progression of liver cancer, the role of RBPs in HCC patients with extrahepatic metastases is poorly understood. METHODS: By performing RNA-seq of primary HCC tissues (including HCC with extrahepatic metastasis and those did not develop metastasis), we identified a set of HCC metastasis-associated RBPs candidates. Among which, ribosomal protein S7 (RPS7) was found to be remarkably increased in HCC tissues and be strongly related to HCC poor survival. Overexpression or CRISPR-Cas9-mediated knockout were applied to investigate the role of RPS7 on the metastasis-associated phenotypes of HCC cells. RNA sequencing, RIP, RNA-pull down, dual luciferase reporter assay, nascent RNA capture assay, and RNA decay and so on, were applied to reveal the underlying mechanism of RPS7 induced HCC metastasis. RESULTS: Gain- and loss- of function analyses revealed that RPS7 promoted HCC cells adhesion, migration and invasion capabilities, as well as lung metastasis. Mechanistically, we uncovered that lysyl oxidase-like 2 (LOXL2) was a critical downstream target of RPS7. RPS7 could stabilize LOXL2 mRNA by binding to AUUUA motifs in the 3155-3375 region of the 3'UTR of LOXL2 mRNA, thus increased LOXL2 expression via elevating LOXL2 mRNA abundance. Further research revealed that LOXL2 could accelerate focal adhesion formation through maintaining the protein stability of ITGB1 and activating ITGB1-mediated FAK/SRC signaling pathway, and thereby contribute to the pro-metastasis effect of RPS7. CONCLUSIONS: Taken together, our data reveal a novel function of RPS7 in HCC metastasis, also reveal the critical roles of the RPS7/LOXL2/ITGB1 axis in HCC metastasis and shed new light on the exploration of molecular drugs against HCC.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the therapeutic efficacy and safety of agomelatine for treating the sleep and mood disorders in epilepsy patients. METHODS: Retrospective data were derived from 113 epilepsy patients for at least 8 weeks. All the subjects were divided into two groups, one was treated with agomelatine, the other was treated with escitalopram. Their depression and anxiety states were assessed by Hamilton Depression (HAMD) and Hamilton Anxiety (HAMA) Scales. Sleep quality was assessed by the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). RESULTS: The HAMA, HAMD and PSQI scores in both groups significantly declined after the treatments with agomelatine and escitalopram. However, the agomelatine group exhibited greater improvement in terms of HAMA and PSQI scores compared to the escitalopram group. No severe adverse events were observed in agomelatine group. SIGNIFICANCE: Agomelatine performed better in HAMA and PSQI scores compared to escitalopram, where no significant increase in seizure frequency or side effects were observed. Possibly, agomelatine presents a promising therapeutic option for treating the sleep or mood disorders in epilepsy patients.

Saponin is an essential natural compound in purple yams with high nutritional and medicinal value. In this work, a multitemplate molecule-imprinted polymer (MMIP) was synthesized with dioscin, protodioscin, and diosgenin templates. The MMIPs were characterized with scanning electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) adsorption, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The efficacy of the MMIPs was assessed with static, dynamic, selective adsorption, desorption, and reusability experiments. The three saponins were selectively extracted and determined by MMIP-high-performance liquid chromatography. The polymer morphology was regular and spherical. The amount of the MMIP adsorbed was 74.825 mg/g, and the imprinting factor was 2.1. The MMIP adsorbed the three saponins from purple yam extract, with recovery rates of 95.5-103.43 % and desorption rates of 85 %-98 %. In addition, the MMIPs were reused at least six times. These results demonstrated that the MMIPs efficiently and selectively extracted dioscin, protodioscin, and diosgenin from food matrices at high rates.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a multifaceted neuropsychiatric condition for which effective drug therapy for core clinical symptoms remains elusive. Lotusine, known for its neuroprotective properties in the treatment of neurological disorders, holds potential in addressing ASD. Nevertheless, its specific efficacy in ASD remains uncertain. This study aims to investigate the therapeutic potential of lotusine in ASD and elucidate the underlying molecular mechanisms. We induced an ASD mouse model through intracerebroventricular-propionic acid (ICV-PPA) injection for 7 days, followed by lotusine administration for 5 days. The efficacy of lotusine was evaluated through a battery of behavioral tests, including the three-chamber social test. The underlying mechanisms of lotusine action in ameliorating ASD-like behavior were investigated in the medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) using whole-cell patch-clamp recordings, western blotting, immunofluorescence staining, molecular docking, and cellular thermal shift assay. The efficacy and mechanisms of lotusine were further validated in vitro. Lotusine effectively alleviated social deficits induced by ICV-PPA injection in mice by counteracting the reduction in miniature excitatory postsynaptic current frequency within the mPFC. Moreover, lotusine enhanced neuronal activity and ameliorated α-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazolepropionic acid receptor dysfunction in ICV-PPA infusion mice by upregulating c-fos, p-GluA1 Ser 845, and p-GluA1 Ser 831 protein levels within the mPFC. Our findings also suggest that lotusine may exert its effects through modulation of the D1 dopamine receptor (DRD1). Furthermore, the rescuing effects of lotusine were nullified by a DRD1 antagonist in PC12 cells. In summary, our results revealed that lotusine ameliorates ASD-like behavior through targeted modulation of DRD1, ultimately enhancing excitatory synaptic transmission. These findings highlight the potential of lotusine as a nutritional supplement in the treatment of ASD.

ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: Dendrobium huoshanense C. Z. Tang et S. J. Cheng (DH) is a traditional medicinal herb with a long history of medicinal use. DH has been recorded as protecting the gastrointestinal function. Modern pharmacology research shows that DH regulates intestinal flora, intestinal mucosal immunity, gastrointestinal peristalsis and secretion of digestive juices. At the same time, some studies have shown that DH has a good therapeutic effect on ulcerative colitis, but its mechanism of action has not been fully elucidated. AIMS OF THIS STUDY: To investigate the mechanism and effect of Dendrobium huoshanense C. Z. Tang et S. J. Cheng (DH) in the treatment of ulcerative colitis (UC) by combining network pharmacology and in vivo experimental validation. METHODS: A network pharmacology approach was used to perform component screening, target prediction, PPI network interaction analysis, GO and KEGG enrichment analysis to initially predict the mechanism of DH treatment for UC. Then, the mechanism was validated with the UC mouse model induced by 3% DSS. RESULTS: Based on the network pharmacological analysis, a comprehensive of 101 active components were identified, with 19 of them potentially serving as the crucial elements in DH's effectiveness against UC treatment. Additionally, the study revealed 314 potential core therapeutic targets along with the top 5 key targets: SRC, STAT3, AKT1, HSP90AA1, and PIK3CA. In experiments conducted on live mice with UC, DH was found to decrease the levels of IL-6 and TNF-α in the blood, while increasing the levels of IL-10 and TGF-ß. This led to notable improvements in colon length, injury severity, and an up-regulation of SRC, STAT3, HSP90AA1, PIK3CA, p-AKT1 and PI3K/AKT signaling pathway expression in the colon tissue. CONCLUSIONS: In this study, the active components and main targets of DH for UC treatment were initially forecasted, and the potential mechanism was investigated through network pharmacology. These findings offer an experimental foundation for the clinical utilization of DH.

KEY MESSAGE: Unreduced megagametophytes via second-division restitution were confirmed through heterozygosity analysis, and four candidate physical centromeres of rubber were located for the first time. The evaluation of maternal heterozygosity restitution (MHR) is vital in identifying the mechanism of 2n gametogenesis and assessing the utilization value of 2n gametes. In this study, three full-sib triploid populations were employed to evaluate the MHR of 2n female gametes of rubber tree clone GT1 and to confirm their genetic derivation. The 2n female gametes of GT1 were derived from second-division restitution (SDR) and transmitted more than half of the parental heterozygosity. In addition, low recombination frequency markers were developed, and four candidate physical centromeres of rubber tree were located for the first time. The confirmation that 2n female gametes of rubber tree clone GT1 are derived from SDR provides insights into the molecular mechanisms of 2n gametogenesis. In addition, the identified centromere location will aid in the development of centromeric markers for the rapid identification of the 2n gametogenesis mechanism.

Amphenmulin is a novel pleuromutilin derivative with great anti-mycoplasma potential. The present study evaluated the action characteristics of amphenmulin against Mycoplasma gallisepticum using pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) modeling approaches. Following intravenous administration, amphenmulin exhibited an elimination half-life of 2.13 h and an apparent volume of distribution of 3.64 L/kg in healthy broiler chickens, demonstrating PK profiles of extensive distribution and rapid elimination. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of amphenmulin against M. gallisepticum was determined to be 0.0039 µg/mL using the broth microdilution method, and the analysis of the static time-kill curves through the sigmoid Emax model showed a highly correlated relationship (R ≥ 0.9649) between the kill rate and drug concentrations (1-64 MIC). A one-compartment open model with first-order elimination was implemented to simulate the in vivo anti-mycoplasma effect of amphenmulin, and it was found that bactericidal levels were reached with continuous administration for 3 days at doses exceeding 0.8 µg/mL. Furthermore, the area under the concentration-time curve divided by MIC (AUC/MIC) correlated well with the anti-mycoplasma effect of amphenmulin within 24 h after each administration, with a target value of 904.05 h for predicting a reduction of M. gallisepticum by 1 Log10CFU/mL. These investigations broadened the antibacterial spectrum of amphenmulin and revealed its characteristics of action against M. gallisepticum, providing a theoretical basis for further clinical development.IMPORTANCEMycoplasma has long been recognized as a significant pathogen causing global livestock production losses and public health concerns, and the use of antimicrobial agents is currently one of the mainstream strategies for its prevention and control. Amphenmulin is a promising candidate pleuromutilin derivative that was designed, synthesized, and screened by our laboratory in previous studies. Moreover, this study further confirms the excellent antibacterial activity of amphenmulin against Mycoplasma gallisepticum and reveals its action characteristics and model targets on M. gallisepticum by establishing an in vitro pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic synchronization model. These findings can further broaden the pharmacological theoretical basis of amphenmulin and serve as data support for its clinical development, which is of great significance for the discovery of new antimicrobial drugs and the control of bacterial diseases in humans and animals.

Stroke is a highly prevalent and widely detrimental cardiovascular disease, frequently resulting in impairments of both motor function and neural psychological capabilities, such as post-stroke depression (PSD). PSD is the most prevalent neuropsychological disorder among stroke patients, characterized by persistent emotional lowness and diminished interest as its primary features. This article summarizes the mechanism research, animal models and related treatments of PSD. Further improvements are needed in the screening of research subjects and the construction of animal models in the study of PSD. At the same time, in the study of the mechanism of PSD, we need to consider the interaction between multiple systems. The treatment of PSD requires more careful consideration. This can help us to find something new in the study of the mechanism of complex PSD, which provides a new direction for us to develop new treatment delivery.

ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: Erzhi pills (EZP), a traditional Chinese medicine formula prescribed for the treatment of vitiligo, has shown promising efficacy. However, the oral bioactive components and mechanisms underlying the promotion of melanogenesis by EZP remain unclear. AIM OF THE STUDY: This study aimed to investigate the pharmacological basis and mechanism of EZP in promoting melanogenesis. MATERIALS AND METHODS: UHPLC-TOF-MS analysis was used to identify absorbed phytochemicals in serum after oral administration of EZP. Network pharmacology methods were used to predict potential targets and pathways involved in the melanogenic activity of EZP, resulting in the construction of a "compound-target-pathway" network. Zebrafish and B16F10 cells were used to evaluate the effects of EZP on tyrosinase activity and melanin content. Western blot and ELISA analyses were used to validate the effects of EZP on melanogenesis-related proteins, including MITF, TYR, CREB, p-CREB, and cAMP. RESULTS: UHPLC-TOF-MS analysis identified 36 compounds derived from EZP in serum samples. Network pharmacology predictions revealed 89 target proteins associated with the identified compounds and closely related to vitiligo. GO and KEGG analyses indicated the involvement of the cAMP/PKA signaling pathway in the promotion of melanogenesis by EZP. Experimental results showed that EZP increased tyrosinase activity and melanin content in zebrafish and B16F10 cells without inducing toxicity. Western blot and ELISA results suggested that the melanogenic effect of EZP may be related to the activation of the cAMP/PKA signaling pathway. These results confirm the feasibility of combining serum pharmacological and network pharmacological approaches. CONCLUSIONS: EZP have the potential to increase tyrosinase activity and melanin content in zebrafish and cells possibly through activation of the cAMP/PKA pathway.
